The Consecrations of Sacred Heart Parish, Luanshya

On the 18th of June 2023, a significant event took place at Sacred Heart Parish in Luanshya. Two Bishops, Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri of the Catholic Diocese of Ndola and Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde of the Catholic Diocese of Solwezi, and the invited priest attended  the official opening of a new church building.

The ceremony was attended by a huge crowd of Christians from within Ndola Diocese and outside. The event commenced with some beautiful poems recited by youths of the parish. Bishop Dr. Phiri was then given the new church building plan. The two Bishops were then presented with gifts of vestments as a token of appreciation for their dedication and commitment to the Church.

As the ceremony progressed, Bishop Phiri handed over the keys of the church to the parish priest, Fr. Nicolas Mubanga. The priest was filled with gratitude, knowing that this new church would provide a much-needed space for the parishioners to gather, pray, and receive guidance.

After the unveiling of the new Church plaque by the two Bishops, the celebration of Mass followed in which events of blessing the church, the altar and the tabernacle took place. Bishop Phiri further conferred the sacrament of confirmation to 30 candidates, imparting his blessings upon them, and praying for their spiritual growth and development.
