On 12th October, 2024, the Archdiocese of Ndola gathered for a momentous occasion at the Independence Stadium in Kalulushi. Following Mass celebrated by Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD the Seminarian Fund Presentation and Awards Ceremony took place. The atmosphere was filled with joy and gratitude as the Catholic community came together to support the Seminarian Fund, a crucial initiative by the Catholic Women’s Organization aimed at training future Priests of the Church. The highlight of the event was the presentation of a substantial cheque amounting to K4,818,260.00, generously donated by the executive members of the Catholic Women’s Organization. This remarkable contribution reflects the unwavering commitment of the Lay- Faithful to support the education and formation of seminarians, ensuring that the Church continues to thrive in faith and service. Archbishop Phiri expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Catholic Women’s Organization for their hard work and dedication, recognizing their efforts in mobilizing support across various parishes, missions and even Outstations.

This act of generosity set the tone for the subsequent awards ceremony, celebrating the collective achievements of the entire archdiocese. The awards ceremony was a joyful recognition of the Deaneries, parishes, outstations, missions and even individuals that demonstrated exceptional commitment to fundraising efforts. Each community was honored for its contributions, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose.

Top Fundraising Parishes: 1. Best Parish: Cathedral of Christ the King – K425,000.00 2. Second Best: Our Lady of Africa Parish – K364,212.00 3. Third Best: Sts. Peter and Paul Parish – K312,450.00 These parishes not only showcased outstanding fundraising efforts but also inspired others within the archdiocese to contribute meaningfully to the cause.
