Opening Mass for formation Year at St. Benedict Diocesan Seminary.
Today, 21st September 2020, His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD, was welcomed to St. Benedict Diocesan seminary by its Rector- Rev. Fr. Brian Mutale. His Lordship celebrated mass with the first seminarians at St. Benedict Diocesan Seminary in Kasaria, Mufulira. He was accompanied by Rev.Fr. Charles Tembo-Procurator General, Rev. Fr. Shula Muleba- Vocations Director, and Rev. Fr. Israel Maliseni -Liturgical Manager.
This Mass marks the beginning of the formation year for these young men coming from both the Diocese of Ndola and the Archdiocese of Lusaka. During this Mass, Bishop Dr. Phiri encouraged the seminarians to be humble, focused and be willing to be formed. The Seminary is currently run by Ndola Diocese in partnership with the Franciscan Missionary service and the Archdiocese of Lusaka.
The delegation from Lusaka Archdiocese that was sent to represent His Grace Archbishop Dr. Alick Banda, was Vicar General- Rev. Fr. Solomon Tembo, Vocations Director-Rev. Fr. Raphael Banda and Rev. Fr. Gabriel Mwanamwalye – President of the local Priests. His Lordship took this opportunity to bless the new chapel, offices and other Buildings.
After Mass the Bishop and all invited Guests took a tour of the other site currently under construction, where there will be a library, computer room, laundry room, up to 60 boarding rooms, multi-purpose hall, and prayer rooms. Below are a few Highlights.
