Mass for the departed Clergy, Religious men and women.

Today, November 15, 2024, St. Theresa Parish in Ibenga hosted a solemn Mass in remembrance of departed clergy and religious men and women, an annual tradition held each November. The Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Ndola, Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, presided over the Mass, standing in for Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, Archbishop of Ndola, who was unable to attend due to prior commitments. The Mass was concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Mathews Kasongo, OFM Conv, Provincial Superior of the Franciscan Friars for Zambia and Malawi. In his homily, Fr. Mutachila spoke on the Christian hope of eternal life through Christ. He urged the faithful to know and trust in Jesus, emphasizing that He is “the way, the truth, and the life.” Fr. Mutachila encouraged the congregation to embrace Christ in the present and prepare their souls for eternal union with Him. After the Mass, a procession to Ibenga Cemetery took place, where the graves of clergy and religious were blessed. The mass concluded with a final blessing. Attendees were later treated to a luncheon, fostering a spirit of unity among the faithful.
