Bishop Banda’s homily, Wednesday, 3rd Week, Year 2.

It is human to dream of a construction that will carry on the builder’s name for ever. In our first reading we see David wishing to build a temple for the Lord. Most likely, he wanted to build a temple that would keep his name in memory. However, he runs into opposition from the Lord. Instead, Yahweh is the one who will build him a house.

The Lord says: “Your house and your kingdom shall endure forever before me…” The house God will build David will be his reign forever. David’s honesty intentions are rewarded with blessings in perpetuity. May our honesty intentions before God be turned into an oasis, a sanctuary of blessings forever in our lives.
