Easter Vigil Mass

Easter Vigil Mass

In a luminous ceremony at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola, Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, the Bishop of Ndola, presided over the Easter Vigil Mass, a cornerstone of the Christian liturgical calendar. This vigil, celebrated on Holy Saturday, holds profound significance as the anticipation of Christ’s resurrection permeates the atmosphere. Central to the Easter Vigil Mass are the nine readings from the Old Testament, symbolizing salvation history’s unfolding and culminating in the triumph of Christ’s victory over death. Each reading unveils layers of divine revelation, leading the faithful on a journey from creation to redemption. During his poignant homily, Bishop Phiri invoked the majesty of God’s creation, drawing parallels between the intricate workings of nature and the eternal wisdom of the Divine. He emphasized the fleeting nature of worldly pursuits, urging humility, reverence, and repentance as pathways to true wisdom and fulfillment. As the community renewed their baptismal promises, reaffirming their commitment to Christ, Bishop Phiri conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation upon five candidates, two of whom were baptized during the same Mass by Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila. This sacramental grace underscored the transformative power of faith and the call to embrace a life of integrity and discipleship. As the Easter Vigil Mass concluded, the cathedral resonated with the joyous proclamation of Christ’s resurrection, echoing throughout the faithful hearts gathered in worship. May this celebration serve as a beacon of hope, guiding us to walk in the light of Christ’s love and grace.
