CWL celebrates Diamond Jubilee.

The Catholic Women’s League (CWL) of the Archdiocese of Ndola celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in a grand and memorable event at the Martyrs of Uganda Parish in Luanshya. Members from all ten deaneries gathered for the occasion, filling the church to its full capacity, with many more participants standing outside, eager to join in the celebration.
The Mass was celebrated by the Archbishop of Ndola, Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, and was a vibrant and beautiful expression of faith. The congregation was uplifted by the energetic and harmonious singing, which added to the solemnity of the event. The theme of the celebration was taken from Ephesians 4:3: “Do your best to preserve unity, which the Spirit gives by means of peace that binds you together.” This message was central to the spirit of the day, emphasizing the importance of unity and peace in the Christian community.
In his homily, Archbishop Phiri focused on the themes of holiness and unity, urging the CWL members to live in a way that reflects their faith and commitments. He reminded them to emulate their patroness, the Blessed Virgin Mary, in both their actions and appearance. He also reflected on the original intention behind the formation of the CWL, urging its members to remain true to those founding principles.
The Archbishop emphasized the need for mutual love and support among the members, as well as for the clergy and the Church at large. He encouraged the CWL to be a source of support and not a stumbling block to others in their spiritual journey.
Following the Mass, a plaque was unveiled and a tree was planted by Archbishop Phiri to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee, symbolizing growth, unity, and a legacy of faith that continues to flourish in the Archdiocese of Ndola.
The celebration was a testament to the enduring commitment and dedication of the Catholic Women’s League, which has played a vital role in the spiritual and social life of the Archdiocese for the past sixty years.
