The Franciscan Province of the Protomartyrs in Zambia mourns the loss of Rev. Fr. Peter Cliff Milanzi, OFM Conv, who returned to the Lord on November 3, 2024, following a tragic road accident on October 30 in the Kapiri Mposhi area. A dedicated servant, Friar Milanzi had recently been appointed as a formator, embracing his new mission to guide young friars.
A Requiem Mass in his honor was held at St. Theresa Parish, Ibenga, on November 7, 2024. Presided over by the Vicar General, Very Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila, the service was a solemn yet hopeful tribute to a beloved friar. Rev. Fr. Alexander Ngosa, OFM Conv, delivered a heartfelt homily, urging all present to be prepared for life’s end, as only God knows the appointed time. Fr. Ngosa highlighted the importance of accepting God’s will, even in sorrow, as demonstrated in Fr. Milanzi’s passing.
The Rite of Committal was led by the Provincial Superior of the Franciscan Friars for Zambia and Malawi, Rev. Fr. Mathews Kasongo, OFM Conv. Members of the clergy, religious men and women, and lay faithful gathered in large numbers to pay their respects, honoring Fr. Milanzi’s life and supporting the Franciscan community. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May Fr. Milanzi’s soul rest in peace.
