Sunday Mass with Archbishop Desmond Tambala
On the 1st of September 2024, the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola was blessed with a special Mass celebrated by Archbishop Desmond Tambala of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe. The Mass was concelebrated by Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD of Ndola, marking a significant moment of unity between the two archdioceses.
In his homily, Archbishop Tambala delivered a thought-provoking message centered on the importance of setting parameters and practicing self-discipline in the Christian life. He warned against the dangers of absolute freedom, stating that it can lead to egocentric behavior and a lack of concern for others. He emphasized the need for laws, even within the Church, to guide the faithful and maintain order, ensuring that the community remains focused on its spiritual goals. Archbishop Tambala also highlighted the importance of cultivating a pure heart through regular introspection and meditation. He encouraged the congregation to take time to reflect on their actions and thoughts, reminding them that spiritual growth requires ongoing self-examination and a commitment to purity of heart.
At the conclusion of the Mass, both Archbishop Tambala and Archbishop Phiri spoke on the possibility of establishing bi-lateral relations between the Archdioceses of Ndola and Lilongwe. They expressed their shared vision of fostering greater collaboration and mutual support between the two archdioceses, recognizing the potential for enhanced spiritual and pastoral development through this partnership. This commitment to strengthening ties between Ndola and Lilongwe was warmly received by the congregation, signaling a promising future of cooperation and unity within the Church in the region.
