Dominican Sister Celebrate Silver and Sapphire Jubilee.
On April 27, 2024, a jubilant atmosphere filled the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola as Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD, Bishop of Ndola Diocese, celebrated the silver jubilee (25 years) of Sister Christine Mwape OP, Sister Emma Malisawa OP, Sister Grace Malama OP, Sister Juliet Mwaba OP, Sister Kabule Kazembe OP, and the sapphire jubilee (65 years) for Sister Philomena Schwegmann OP. The mass was a vibrant and joyous occasion, filled with gratitude and celebration for the dedicated service of these sisters. During his homily, Bishop Phiri encouraged the sisters to remain steadfast in their vows and to always turn to God in times of struggle. He emphasized the importance of living in community, fostering humility, appreciation, and mutual respect among all members. Bishop Phiri urged the younger sisters to learn from their elders and avoid prideful competition. As part of the ceremony, the sisters renewed their commitment, receiving a papal and apostolic blessing. Priests from across the diocese, along with family members who brought gifts, gathered to show their support for the sisters on this momentous occasion. The celebration served as a testament to the enduring dedication and profound impact of religious life within the Ndola Diocese.
