Today, March 20, 2024, the Catholic community of Ndola Diocese reverently gathered for Chrism Mass at the cathedral of Christ the King. Presiding over this mass was the bishop of Ndola Diocese- Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD. This sacred ceremony, usually observed during Holy Week, holds profound significance, symbolizing the unity of the Church and the renewal of priestly commitment.

At the heart of the Chrism Mass are the blessings of the holy oils: the Oil of Catechumens, the Oil of the Sick, and the Sacred Chrism. These oils, consecrated by Bishop Phiri, hold sacramental importance. The Oil of Catechumens signifies strength for those journeying in faith, the Oil of the Sick offers solace and healing, and the Sacred Chrism symbolizes the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders.

During his homily, Bishop Phiri delivered a stirring message, urging the lay faithful to uphold priests in prayer and support, acknowledging the challenges inherent in their vocation.
