Sr. Anastazia Miti put to rest

Today, 28th February 2023, Rev. Sr. Anastazia Miti was put to rest at St. Joseph Mission, Kalumbwa. The requiem mass was celebrated by Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde- Bishop of solwezi Diocese and was concelebrated by the Vicar General of Ndola diocese- Very. Rev. Fr. Lewis Mutachila and provincial Superior of the Franciscan Friars- Fr. Lambe.

The life history of the Late Rev. Sr. Anastazia Miti. She was born on 7th November, 1987 from Mr. Joseph Israel Miti and Dorothy Mbewe Miti of Mtendere-Lusaka. Sr.Anastazia was a second born in the family of four. She leaves behind her parents and her three brothers. Sacramental Life- Sr.Anastazia was baptised on 27th November,1987, received Holy Communion on 25th December 1996 at Mary Queen of Peace Parish in Mutendere. She was confirmed on 10th December 2000. Sr.Anastazia was a very active member of youth groups at the Parish. Education- Sr.Anastazia attended Chitukuko Primary School, Woodlands Basic School and Kabulonga Girls Secondary School. She completed her secondary education in 2006. She was trained in Early Childhood as she had a passion for teaching.

As a sister she furthered her studies in bachelors of Science in Education at kitwe Teachers Training College. She already defended her thesis and would have graduated this year. Religious Life- Sr. Anastazia attributed her vocation to the solid foundation that she was provided for by her parents. She joined the Congregation as a junior postulant in 2012 and as a novice in 2015. Sr. Anastazia made her first profession in 2017. She was jovial and lovable person, artistic and innovative. We will miss her services during functions. Her smilling face made everybody around her happy. Her courageous nature was reflected in the manner that she carried herself whenever she was in pain. Sr.Anastazia was committed to religious life and prayer. Despite her pain during the difficult time she was very optimistic. Her faith and belief in Jesus was exceptional. Apostolate- Sr. Anastazia understood the mission of the Congregation and so served in schools, Parishes and the community.

She served in administration at St. Daniel Primary School in the Catholic Diocese of Solwezi. She was missioned to St. John Convent School as a reading teacher until her demise. She enjoyed working with the young ones. Illness- Sr.Anastazia has been hypertensive, and complications which led to her admission to Wusakile Mine Hospital on Wednesday 24th February,2023.

The last hours before she died, Sr.Anastazia shared a light moment with a sister on the bed side about the life of our Father Founder St.Alfonso Maria Fusco and she expressed admiration for the Founder’s love for and devotion to our Lady of Sorrows and wished that all our convents can have this picture. She also talked about how Father Founder loved the sick members in the community β€œThe sick who are the pillars of the Congregation.’’ She died peacefully at 21:53 hours.
