The Catholic Diocese of Ndola regrets to announce the death of Fr. Matthews Shata, of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kasama who died last evening on Saturday, 7th November, 2020 at Ndola Teaching Hospital where he was admitted after a short illness.

Mass today was held at Cathedral of Christ the King in memory of Fr. Matthews Shata. The mass was celebrated by Rt. Rev. Benjamin Phiri — Bishop of Ndola. The Body of Fr. Matthews Shata leaves Ndola for Kasama at 05:00hrs tomorrow. It will be transported to Kasama Archdiocese accompanied by Diocesan Administration members and other Representatives of the Diocese. Diocesan Administration will provide a 30 seater minibus to ferry the Family members and other Diocesan Representatives (Priests and Religious Sisters). The body will be taken to the Cathedral of St. John in Kasama and a Virgil Mass will be celebrated and body will lay in state at the Cathedral of St. John. Other details for the burial will be communicated to you from the Administration of the Archdiocese of Kasama in due course.
