Pastoral Visit at St. Patrick church, Dola hill.
On March 9, 2025, the Archbishop of Ndola Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, made a pastoral visit to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dola Hill. He was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Simplisius Nsonga, alongside a congregation that filled the church to capacity. Parishioners from St. Augustine Outstation were also in attendance, adding to the spiritual vibrancy of the day. The celebration was enriched by the harmonious voices of the combined choir of St. Patrick and St. Augustine, while the Xaferi marched beautifully, adding solemnity to the occasion. During his homily, Archbishop Phiri emphasized the importance of self-examination during Lent. He urged the faithful to take time to reflect on their lives—to ask themselves whether they are truly friends of God. He spoke strongly against hidden sins, reminding the congregation that even if people do not see them, God sees everything. The Archbishop warned against the love of wealth, which has led some to commit grave sins, including defiling their own children and engaging in various atrocities. He also strongly condemned Catholics who seek witch doctors, believing they can sin and later cleanse themselves through confession. He clarified that such a confession would not be valid, as true repentance requires a sincere change of heart. The Mass ended in a solemn mood of repentance, with many reflecting deeply on the Archbishop’s powerful call to conversion and holiness.
