MASS AT ST. THERESA PARISH, MUFURILA

MASS AT ST. THERESA PARISH, MUFURILA

On March 30, 2025, the Archbishop of Ndola Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, made a pastoral visit to St. Theresa Catholic Church in Mufulira. He was warmly welcomed by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Bernard Lubumbe, and a large congregation that filled the church to capacity, with many faithful sitting outside due to the overwhelming attendance. The celebration was marked by a beautifully sung liturgy, as the choir lifted voices in praise, and the Xaferi marched with great discipline, adding to the solemnity of the occasion. During his homily, Archbishop Phiri emphasized that Lent is a time for deep reflection and introspection. He urged the faithful to examine their lives sincerely, warning against living a double-standard life—one where they appear holy in public but engage in sinful acts in private. Drawing from the Parable of the Prodigal Son, he reminded the congregation that we all need to return to our Heavenly Father in one way or another. He strongly condemned Catholics who seek witch doctors and engage in immoral acts, stressing that true faith requires genuine repentance and a transformed heart. The Mass ended in high spirits, as this was the Archbishop’s first visit to the parish. The faithful expressed their joy and gratitude, leaving the celebration spiritually uplifted and renewed in their Lenten journey.
