Corpus Christi Mass at Immaculate Conception Parish.

On June 2, 2024, the Immaculate Conception Parish in Luanshya was graced by the presence of the Bishop of Ndola Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD, who celebrated Mass for the Feast of Corpus Christi. The parish community, led by Parish Priest Fr. Kayombo and Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Kasonde welcomed the Bishop with warmth and reverence.

During his homily, Bishop Phiri emphasized the centrality of the Eucharist in Catholic faith, underscoring the belief that the bread and wine consecrated during Mass are the true Body and Blood of Christ. He urged the faithful to strive for unity with Christ through the Eucharist, highlighting the importance of receiving it worthily. This, he noted, requires constant repentance and prayer, as nothing is hidden from God.Bishop Phiri also called on the congregation to be genuine Christians, living holy lives not only within the church walls but in their homes and everyday environments. His message was clear: true Christianity extends beyond Sunday worship and must be reflected in every aspect of our lives.

After the homily, Bishop Phiri conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 22 candidates, marking a significant milestone in their spiritual journeys. The newly confirmed were encouraged to embrace their faith wholeheartedly, inspired by the Bishop’s words and the support of their parish. The solemnity of Corpus Christi, celebrated with such profound devotion and community spirit, reminded all present of the deep mysteries of the faith and the call to live authentically as followers of Christ.

following the Eucharistic celebration at Immaculate Conception Parish in Luanshya, the Eucharist was placed in a monstrance and carried through the streets by the Bishop of Ndola Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri JCD, accompanied by his priests. The joyous procession, held in commemoration of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, filled the streets with song and prayer.
The significance of this procession lies in its role as a “public witness of faith and worship of the Most Blessed Sacrament.” At three designated stations, prayers were offered, symbolizing Christ’s journey with His followers and His presence among us. This event visibly demonstrated the Church’s belief that Christ walks with us on our pilgrimage to heaven.
Returning to the church, the Eucharist was adored, and additional prayers were offered, concluding the celebration beautifully.
The Bishop took time to take photos with the newly confirmed candidates, the Catholic Men’s organization, the Stellers and Altar boys who served diligently through the entire mass and procession.
