Christmas Vigil Mass
On 24th December 2024, the eve of Christmas, the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola was filled with joyous hymns and prayers as the faithful gathered for a Vigil Mass celebrating the birth of Christ. The Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Phiri, Archbishop of the Ndola Diocese, presided over the mass. During his homily, Archbishop Phiri delved into the rich traditions of the Church, emphasizing their meaning and importance. He urged the congregation to embrace these traditions wholeheartedly, as they provide spiritual guidance and connect believers to the essence of their faith. His Grace reminded the faithful that amidst the world’s commercialization of Christmas, the Church must remain a beacon of light, illuminating the true meaning of the season. Calling for repentance and spiritual renewal, Archbishop Phiri encouraged Christians to rededicate themselves to the Lord. “Christmas is Christ first,” he proclaimed, urging everyone to honor the birth of the Savior through worthy celebration, free from sin and in alignment with God’s will. The atmosphere was one of beauty and joy, as the congregation participated in the liturgy with heartfelt devotion. Hymns and prayers celebrated the miraculous event of Christ’s birth.
