Feast of the Holy Family Mass.
On December 29, 2024, Archbishop Dr. Benjamin Phiri, JCD, led the faithful in celebrating the Feast of the Holy Family at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Ndola. The solemn Mass brought together families to reflect on the sacredness and unity of the family as exemplified by Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. In his homily, Archbishop Phiri underscored the critical role parents play in nurturing the faith of their children. He called on parents to take their responsibility seriously by teaching their children about God and the values of the Christian faith. He urged them to prioritize spiritual guidance at home, encouraging family time with no phones or any other distracting technologies. Speaking to children, the Archbishop stressed the importance of obedience and respect towards their parents. He encouraged them to seek a personal relationship with God, reminding them that faith is not inherited but cultivated through intentional effort. The Archbishop also addressed contemporary challenges to the family, rejecting modern ideologies that redefine its structure. “The family, as ordained by God, is a father, mother, and children,” he stated firmly, urging the faithful to uphold and defend biblical teachings. The celebration was a powerful call to strengthen family bonds in faith and love.
